Anyone can become a Norfolk Blood Bikes fundraiser! When you raise funds for us you are keeping us on the road so we can continue our lifesaving work! Challenges big or small are all welcome in the name of Norfolk Blood Bikes.
We always need help raising awareness of Norfolk Blood Bikes, whether that means meeting the public at an event, supermarket or air show or simply telling your friends and family about our good work.
If you would like to help we’d love to hear from you!
Riders, drivers and controllers fill in an availability sheet each month to say what nights they are available. Each volunteer is expected to undertake a minimum of two shifts per month from a minimum of eight available dates.
The rota manager creates a rota where riders and drivers are generally on duty for two consecutive nights, collecting the duty vehicle from the previous member.
At 6.30pm members are called by the controller and are then on duty from 7pm to 7am. Hospitals will call the controller with tasks, with the controller dispatching the appropriate rider or driver.
We work 365 nights a year plus daytimes at the weekends and on bank holidays. Currently we have around 50-55 riders and drivers as well as 15 controllers.
