There are many roles within Norfolk Blood Bikes

You don't have to ride a motorbike to join

Controller
We are very keen to hear from anyone that would like to Volunteer as a Controller.

All Controllers work from home, so there is no need to be able to ride or even drive to directly support NBB.  However an understanding of the road system and traffic is preferred. 


However, before contacting us, we request that you confirm that you fulfil the following essential requirements:  
  • You must have a confident telephone manner
  • You must have access to a computer with experience using Microsoft Excel
  • You must have a fixed telephone 'landline' so that the 0845 'On Call' number can be transferred to your number
  • Willing to work as a volunteer on a set shift pattern covering weekends / Bank Holidays (9am - 5pm), and/or
  • Willing to work as a volunteer on a set shift pattern covering overnight (7pm to 7am)
  • Willing to support Fund Raising events on an ad-hoc basis
  • Willing to undertake undergo specialist Controller training.

Rider

We are always keen to hear from new prospective riders.


 Riders and drivers are the lifeblood of our organisation, without them we couldn’t exist.  


However, before contacting us, we request that you confirm that you fulfil the following essential requirements in order to ride for us:  


  • Aged over 30
  • Full motorcycle licence
  • No more than 6 penalty points on your licence
  • Advanced IAM / RoSPA / Police qualification for motorcycle passed (or revalidated) within the last 3 years.
  • Be experienced in riding high capacity motorcycles in poor weather conditions.  Ideally you will be a 'year round biker'.
  • Live within 10 miles of Kings Lynn, Norwich, Gorleston on Sea, Thetford or Diss (This ensures that we can respond quickly to urgent callouts)
  • Willing to work as a volunteer on a set shift pattern covering weekends / Bank Holidays (9am - 5pm), and/or
  • Willing to work as a volunteer on a set shift pattern covering overnight (7pm to 7am) and/or 
  • Willing to work as a volunteer during the week on an ad-hoc basis carrying Donated Breast Milk
  • Willing to support Fund Raising events on an ad-hoc basis
  • Willing to purchase an official NBB HiViz Overjacket marked ‘BLOOD’ (£35)
  • Willing to undertake route and product handling training.

You will need to provide suitable motorcycle riding equipment: Boots, Trousers, Jacket and Gloves.

A plain white, bluetooth enable helmet is preferred but not essential.

Riders are asked to submit their availability and then shifts are allocated on a monthly basis by the Rota Manager 

Driver

Fund Raiser
Anyone, over 18, can become a Norfolk Blood Bikes fundraiser.

Being a NBB Fund Raiser is not the same as just raising funds.  It is about being part of a dedicated team involved in many activities aimed at supporting the Charity.


As part of this team you are keeping us on the road so we can continue our essential support for the NHS.


As a NBB Fund Raiser you will help organise and support numerous events throughout the year including:

  • Local Fetes and Gala
  • Supermarket Collections
  • The Royal Norfolk Show
  • Snetterton British Superbike Racing
  • Norwich City FC Charity Car Park
  • Supporting sponsored runs/walks/ rides etc.
  • Presentations to local groups
  • Christmas Street Collections
